Tournament Information

  • USJF JR. Nationals

I wanted to congratulate all of the Spokane Judo competitors who competed in the recent tournament. There is nothing harder than getting out on the mat in front of everyone else and giving it your all.
So nice job, Abby, Joey, and Elliot.

  • Tournament this weekend

Just some notes about the tournament this weekend.

    1. Registration and weigh-ins are Friday 9:00-4:00 at the Doubletree Hotel Spokane-City Center 322 North Spokane Falls Court.
    2. Competition is Sunday at 8:30 for everyone born in 1998-1999. The tournament is at the convention center.

    See everyone there.

  • USJF Junior Nationals Entries

The entry form needs to be postmarked by June 8 to avoid the late entry fee ($80 rather than $60). The form is here.
The tournament is at the Spokane Convention Center.
There is a non-black belt waiver that I need to sign so bring it to practice next week and I will sign it.
The important thing is to get your entry (with or without the non-black belt waiver) sent in by Friday.

  • Kootenay Classic Judo Tournament – Salmo, BC

Here is the entry form for the tournament in Canada on April 28.
This looks like it will be a nice tournament and it is pretty close to home.
I encourage everyone who can to attend.

  • 2012 Inland Empire Results

I wanted to congratulate all the competitors at the tournament yesterday.
We only had one person from Spokane Judo walk in front of a judge (Max).
Generally, I think all of our players only need more tournaments to get better.

    • John Yen 1st
    • Jake Kitterman 2nd
    • Joey Bergman 4th(very tough division)
    • Lucas Lewis
    • Max Lebzak
    • Ethan Reynolds
    • Paul Bergman
    • Elliot Warren

I say it at the dojo, but just to repeat myself, all of these players worked much harder than those of us who didn’t get out there and put their skill to the test!

  • Working the Tournament

We need volunteers to help with the tournament next weekend.
This can be working tables, helping with mats or several other jobs.
I will ask each of you tomorrow when you are available to help so have some times available.

  • Congratulations to John Yen

I am pleased to announce that John Yen finished 5th in the COLLEGIATE National Championship yesterday. He had the largest division in the tournament and did very well with such a large pool.
In competition, one of the hardest things to do is come back on the mat after a loss and fight to win and John was able to do that quite nicely.

  • 3 Photos from the 2011Continental Crown

Abe has kindly sent on 3 photos from the 2011 Continental Crown tournament.
    His description is:
